FAQ

How do I connect and disconnect the camera cable?

First off, please note that there is an up and a down. The cable connectors should be facing the inside of the transmitter:

To connect the connector apply pressure using both of your thumbs (and their nails if you have any), at both ends of the connector and at the same time.

To disconnect the cable pull every single wire at the same time. Don’t pull the connector itself, pull the wires.

What is the pinout for the transmitter’s telemetry port?

Please note that you don’t need to connect the UART TX pin to the Vector, while you should if you are using Mavlink. Remember that if using the Vector you need to have the “Open Telemetry” option selected under the telemetry option of the OSD menu (you won’t find such an option under the Windows configuration tool). You can see the Vector’s pinout here.

I have signal problems indoor when moving the transmitter around or blocking it’s antenna with my body.

You won’t see the same problems outdoor. If you have an indoor application, talk to us.

I mounted the system in a racing quad and have the same problem as above (extremely brief losses in the video stream), but outdoor.

Talk to us.

Can I use the system below freezing temperatures?

You shouldn’t, but you could be able to, with some precautions. First of all, make sure that hair humidity is low enough to avoid condensation, as you don’t want water shorting anything in the transmitter. Mount the transmitter inside a canopy if you are flying with an airplane, and generally avoid having streams of very cold hair (below 0 degrees Celsius) flowing directly to the transmitter. If you can’t avoid that, you might need to remove the fan.

I believe I have connected the telemetry cable correctly, but I only have some of the OSD displayed

If you see any OSD parameter other than voltage you have a working telemetry connection. For parameters like home distance, altitude, speed, you need a valid GPS lock before those are displayed.

I have no telemetry connection but I can still see the transmitter’s battery voltage in my OSD. What’ going on?

The transmitter reads the voltage from supply it’s connected to and displays it without any need for a telemetry connection. However, if telemetry data is showing a battery voltage higher than what the transmitter is reading, this number will be displayed on screen instead. This is to allow you to connect the power cable of the transmitter to a step down regulator if you ever need to.

The .mkv files the ground recorder is generating can’t be played back on VLC. How do I open them?

Unfortunately we still have some mystic bug there. You can work around it by using VLC’s Convert/Stream option (under OSX it’s File => Convert/Stream, under Windows it’s Media => Convert/Save). The video doesn’t need transcoding and this makes the conversion relatively fast.

I see a message appearing and disappearing when I change a setting. My system is broken, right?

Your system works great. The “Unsaved settings, please connect the transmitter via the config cable” message disappears only when settings are saved to the transmitter. Your system would be broken if the message never went away.
